| Like the scent of your teenage sweetheart, Your Precious You consumes you, mind and body, with the swirling, infectious exhiliration of memory. This is the kind of music you get lost in, only to discover that you have found something that was lurking beneath the surface of your life. Beauty, suspense, adoration, adventure, and tumultous heartache - all are remembered, re-lived, and glorified in the music of Your Precious You.
The rock-driven guitars build gradually like waves, eventually crashing down, submersing you in an undertow of distortion. Ace McNeill's drums pound relentlessly like the tell-tale heart, and Kevin Cole's bass weaves through it all like the plot twists from your own life - unpredictable, but always right somehow. Patrick Stull's whispery vocals float across the surface, effortlessly releasing the pain of lost loves, indecision, missing friends, and other experiences that will never come back. Jeff Gardner adds the toe-dipping where the wave meets the shore, picking only the notes he needs to mingle with the melody, like the memories you're not sure were real, and don't know how they happened. Patrick's lyrics are rarely straight-forward, but contain vivid imagery, and meanings can be pieced together at will. Mind finds fear of time (lyrics from "Wake" reprinted with permission from Your Precious You) YPY's live show comes on strong, flanked by slide shows and 16mm films that keep perfect time with the music, always following the fluctuations and rhythms. Your Precious You combines the awesome power of the stadium setting with the intimacy of a small club, and loses nothing in the process. Patrick draws the individual attention of each person in the audience with his obvious commitment to the words he sings, and Kevin infuses his bass with enough energy to power all the equipment in the room. Weathering comparisons to bands such as The Cure and Red House Painters, Your Precious You stands out as an original. While elements of these bands can be heard, YPY has created a sound all their own, with far more innovation seeping through, than influence. Your Precious You is currently recording a full-length album in their studio in northern California with top-notch producer Rob Frost. Keep in touch with YPY at http://www.YourPreciousYou.com.
