A little truth-telling for our Absurd World

The New York Times reports that some prisoners are claiming that Moammar Ghadafi, the Libyan dictator who suddenly became a good guy in the last year, giving up his nuclear weapons program, was recently planning the assassination of the royal Saudi leader. The Libyan government is completely denying it. Whether it turns out to be true or not, western governments have already been diving into Libya wholeheartedly, mostly for oil, and British PM Tony Blair even went to Libya and sat in a tent with Ghadafi. As the war on terrorist groups depends ever more heavily on international cooperation to try and flush out every dark corner of the world, and capitalist markets look to expand into every corner of the developing world, each isolated little leader, formerly ignored, becomes more powerful, almost acting like a swing voter in the struggle for the direction of global events. Western nations are putting way too much power in the hands of old pariahs, waiting on them to give or withhold cooperation on individual issues, and then pouring money into their coffers, while they are obviously only serving their personal interests. Watch for more little wars, as small-time leaders slip in and out of favor, as alliances are used and tossed away, just as some Iraqi leaders are now being minimized, and hotspot Afghanistan practically being left unsupported.
