PORTLAND, Oregon (Sonicpress) - RollingblackoutS have received vague threats from someone claiming to represent Jefferson Maxwell, the tasteless person that we previously reported was cybersquatting on the RollingblackoutS.com domain name. Apparently, he's going to file us under "sweet" or "suite" or something. Maybe that means he likes the music? The transcript of the email follows. (We were too afraid of his scariness to reply.)
I'm encouraging Mr. Maxwell to file suite against your recalcitrant, debasing depiction of his character, and plan to introduce him to several of Portland, Oregon's finest trial attorneys. Best start looking in your rear view mirror.

The original story - Some dude named Jefferson Maxwell is a low-down, no-good cybersquatter! Sonicpress Entertainment Network, acting in cooperation with global supergroup RollingblackoutS, has surreptitiously contacted one Jefferson Maxwell, of Astoria, Oregon, and prompted him to repeatedly admit over the last several months, that he's a trashy, out-of-work actor experiencing a second consecutive bad hair millenium, who holds internet domain names for ransom. RollingblackoutS has always used the domain name RollingblackoutSmusic.com, to avoid confusion with energy company issues, but newer fans of the band may not be aware that rude and scummy 80s dudes are luring young teens away from their favorite bands' sites, and into their creepy clutches. In order to protect the good name of RollingblackoutS, and as a public service, the full text of our conversations are presented here. As you are about to read, Sonicpress approached Mr. Maxwell in the most gentlemanly manner, only to be rebuffed with a disrespectful and shlocky attitude. The following transcripts are quoted verbatim from emails between ECS., of Sonicpress (and RollingblackoutS), and Mr. Maxwell (reprinted in red).
Dear Sir or Maam,
I am interested in purchasing the domain name, "rollingblackouts.com", as an addition to the Sonicpress entertainment network. Considering that the utility companies and government agencies in CA are now practically bankrupt, I don't expect they will be purchasing any domain names in the near future. I hereby offer to pay US$ 100.00 (one hundred dollars) for the ownership of the domain name "rollingblackouts.com".
Mr. Smitten, we appreciate your desire to purchase rollingblackouts.com, but 100 USD is an extremely low offer for this excellent domain name.
Please feel free to submit a more reasonable offer,
at your convenience.
Sincerely,
Mr. Maxwell
Mr. Maxwell,
Thank you for considering our offer to purchase the domain name "rollingblackouts.com". After meeting with my team, we have decided to increase the amount of our offer. I hereby offer to pay US$ 200.00 (two hundred dollars) for the ownership of the domain name "rollingblackouts.com". I feel this offer is quite generous, and represents a 285% premium to the $70 you paid to register this domain name.
Please respond at your convenience.
Jefferson Maxwell - Scuzzy 80s dude
Thanks again,

Mr. Smitten, the percentage of "premium" to what I paid to register
the domain name in question is NOT an issue, and has never been
an issue when anyone buys/sells a domain name.
I am not desperate nor greedy. However, I will not consider any offer
from anyone at anytime for rollingblackouts.com UNDER $1,000.
Have a wonderful day.
Sincerely,
Mr. Maxwell
Mr. Maxwell,
Thank you for considering our offer to purchase the domain name
"rollingblackouts.com". After meeting with my team, we have decided to once
again increase the amount of our offer. I hereby offer to pay US$ 250.00
(two hundred fifty dollars) for the ownership of the domain name
"rollingblackouts.com", assuming, of course, that it remains available. This
offer represents a 357% premium to the $70 you paid to register this domain
name.
Please respond at your convenience.
Thanks,
Ernest C. Smitten

At this point, he began setting his messages to priority "lowest," but even this schlep is aware of the global supergroup RollingblackoutS...
shlocky and arrogant
Mr. Smitten, please read my response to your previously low offer
which I sent to you on 29 JUN 01. You seem to be really stuck on
the "% premium" angle to pay next to nothing for this fine name.
Ask the musical group ROLLINGBLACKOUTS if this name is worth
the cost of a good monitor.
I will say this AGAIN:
" I will not consider any offer from anyone at anytime
for rollingblackouts.com UNDER $1,000.
Have a wonderful day. "
This means, do not send any further offers UNDER $1,000.
Mr. Maxwell,
Thank you for considering our offer to purchase the domain name
"rollingblackouts.com". After meeting with my team, we have decided to
reduce our previous offer to US$ 220.00 (two hundred twenty dollars) for the
ownership of the domain name "rollingblackouts.com", assuming, of course,
that it remains available. We, at Sonicpress, unanimously disagree that this
sum is unreasonable, in light of the continuing widespread market
devaluations. We do not believe the current macroeconomic climate supports
the incredible markup you are seeking. Things do change, don't they!
Please respond at your convenience. Thanks,

Mr. Smitten, the more things change the more they stay the same.
" I will not consider any offer from anyone at anytime
for rollingblackouts.com UNDER $1,000.
Have a wonderful day. "
